APPLES

GALA SCHNIGA® SCHNICO RED(S)

FRUIT

Harvest Time

Second half of August. Thanks to the early coloring of the fruit, Gala Schnico can be harvested at the ideal moment of harvest ripeness, in a single harvest.

Fruit

The fruit is medium-sized (similar in size to Gala Schniga Schnico). The apples are entirely covered with an intense, dark red blush, darker than Gala Schniga® SchniCo(s). The apples are flat-topped and conical in shape. The fruit begins to color approximately 1-2 weeks before harvest, sooner than Gala Schniga® SchniCo(s). At harvest time, all the fruit are uniform in color and can be harvested simultaneously. This earlier and more intense color makes them suitable for areas where fruit coloring is poor. The flesh is light yellow, firm, juicy, and has a good sugar content, more compact than other Gala mutations.

Storage

Great storage features comparing to othe Gala sports.
CA – until March

TREE

Vigour

The tree grows moderately vigorously. It blooms two days earlier than Golden Delicious and enters fruiting early. It is highly stable and has a significantly lower tendency to regress compared to other Gala mutations.

FLOWERING

Pollinators

Red Delicious, Braeburn, Elstar, Pinova, Golden Delicious, Fuji, Evereste.
